CHASING BUTTERFLIES

If you have not figured out by now, I am a major dog lover.  I started this business to print shirts for people to show their love and admiration for our canine friends.  So I am quite emotional when it comes to dogs or any animal for that matter.  Something happened a few nights ago and I wanted to share it with you.

On my way home from work the other night, I saw a dog laying on the side of the road.  Obviously it had been hit by a car and it appeared to be dead.   I have driven past other dogs and animals that had been hit by cars and just kept going.  I could not do anything for the animals and living in the city I knew animal control would be by to take it off the street.  So after I saw this dog I just kept driving.  As I was driving, I started wondering if the animal was actually dead or not.  I could not stand the thought of that poor dog suffering there on the road so I turned around to check on him.

I grabbed a blanket out of my car and headed for the dog.  She was dead. :(    At least she was not suffering anymore.  My plan was to wrap her in the blanket and lay her on the sidewalk so animal control could get her in the morning.  But once I had her in my arms I just could not leave her there.  Who knows how long it would be before animal control would get there and I felt she deserved a little more respect then that.  I decided I would take her to my vet and pay for her cremation.

Unfortunately, it was 3am and my vet was not open.  I brought her home with me and laid her in the garage until morning.  I would take her in the morning and have her cremated.  The next day my vet said I could take
her to a pet cemetery by my house and they would take care of her for free.  I brought her to the cemetery and said good bye to the little girl.

Even though she was not my dog, it was still very emotional.  But my heart felt good.  I knew it was the right thing to not leave her on the road that night.  I do not know her name but I call her Angel and I know she is in heaven chasing butterflies.

Thanks for reading!
