FEB. 2011 Blogger Contest Entry - PAYING IT FORWARD

I have been working on my screen printing business for the past six months. During that time I have purposely NOT advertised my services to others, at least for the time being. My main goals have been to 1) screen print shirts for myself and 2) when the time was right, screen print for others. I believe doing business this way is a good thing. (At least for me.)   By printing shirts for myself first, I get plenty of experience and also some much needed cash flow.  Once my business is up and running, I could start taking orders.

This month as a Ryonet blogger, I have a chance to win a Little Buddy Conveyor dryer.  So what is this months contest? The blogger who prints the LARGEST single run during the month of February wins the conveyor dryer.   I certainly would not pass up the chance to win a $2000 piece of equipment.  But I found myself at a little self imposed disadvantage...."HOW DO YOU GET A LARGE ORDER WHEN YOU HAVE NOT ADVERTISED YOUR SERVICES?"  Hmmm!!  I had to change my way of doing business and fast.

I started asking my friends and family but no orders came my way.  Then I remembered a business idea a friend had talked about last year.  I approached her and asked  if she still wanted to start her business.  Of course she did but funds were low.  Being a new business owner myself, I definitely understood how hard it is to get an idea off the ground when you just do not have the available funds.  Many dreams get lost because of the lack of funds.

I thought back to when I wanted to start my business.  I had a great idea but NO money to get going.  Then I found RYONET.  Ryonet believed in my dream enough to give me an opportunity of a life time.  Without their belief in me I would not be in business today.  Because of their faith in me, I wanted to pass along my good fortune to someone else.  I decided to "PAY IT FORWARD."

My friend has a very deep religious faith and she wanted to express that faith in t-shirt designs.  When we first talked about it she gave me one short verse and I fell in love with her idea.  Time went by and I became so involved with my designs that I put her idea to the back of my mind.  With this contest I decided to help launch her idea.  Now my order is not huge but I know it will have a huge impact on her life.  It feels good to give back!

Final order was a 1 color design printed on 30 shirts and 10 tote bags for a TOTAL OF 40 ITEMS!

FINAL ORDER COUNT WAS 40 ITEMS

Here is the design on a black shirt!

For such a time as this...

 White shirt with black ink.

Tote Bag

Invoice - Beyond the actual cost of the shirts and bags, I only charged $40 for this job.  This was my way of PAYINT IT FORWARD!

Here is a video showing me in production.

It feels good to give back!
