THE IMPORTANCE OF A BUSINESS PLAN

QUICK UPDATE
On my agenda for this week was building a screen drying rack, installing the exhaust system in the shop and building a portable conveyor dryer.  I finished my screen drying rack.  Yippie!!   It turned out very nice.  I will work on the exhaust system as soon as I finish this post.  I need to pick up a few more things in the morning and should have it completed by tomorrow afternoon.  As soon as I have it installed I can do some printing. :)  No printing until the fumes are sucked out of the shop. :)

THE IMPORTANCE OF A BUSINESS PLAN
According to an article on businessknowhow.com, the number five reason a business fails is "LACK OF PLANNING".
"Many small businesses fail because of fundamental shortcomings in their business planning.  It must be realistic and based on accurate, current information and educated projections for the future."

I have been a research nut since the beginning of this venture.  It is very time consuming and a little frustrating because I want to get this thing launched NOW!  But I know if I do the planning and needed research now I will have less pitfalls down the road.

I have set a final launch date for my business and because success depends on careful planning, I have enlisted help with making sure everything is in order.  Next Friday I have a meeting scheduled with a SCORE (Counselors to Americas Small Businesses) representative.  SCORE (score.org)  is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA.gov).  They offer FREE help and resources to anyone who asks.

While I was on their website I found some great information on writing a business plan.  Here is the link:   Business Plan for a Startup Business.   After reading over this information, I realized just how important a business plan is and the research needed to write an effective one.  With the research I have done so far, I am hoping I can write a preliminary business plan before my meeting.  I can go back as many times as I need but it would be nice to get as much information covered the first visit.

As always, THANKS for checking out my blog!!
