EPSON 1400 BLACKMAX PRINTER

It took a couple days to get over my head cold.  Yikes, I hate being sick.  I have been lucky this year...only sick once. (Knock  on wood!)  Usually I get the flu/cold twice a year.  Must be all my healthy living.  :)

So, I have been busy re-arranging (again) my printing room.  I had to shift a few things around to make room for all my new toys.  I still have a few things to get organized but I am getting there.

I installed my new Epson 1400 Blackmax printer with ACCURIP yesterday and have been playing around with it today.    It has been pretty easy to work with so far.  The first film I printed looked horrible.  I could see so much light through it.  I was getting a better result from my Lexmark printer.  You want your transparencies to be as dark as possible to block out the light when you expose your screens.  I played around with it  a little more and figured out what to do.  It only took a little more reading and a few adjustments in ACCURIP and I was good to go.

These are the ACCURIP settings I had luck with:
Under Ink Set-up
Ink Coverage - STANDARD

Under Printer Set-up
Print Resolution - 1440 x 720 DPI
Droplet Weight - MEDIUM OR HEAVY

Under "How would you like this screened?"
I chose - ELLIPSE
Angle - 22.5 Degrees
Frequency - 45 LPI

Wow, the new transparencies are SO much darker then the ones I have printed with my Lexmark.  I am looking forward to exposing my screens, especially since I will be using my new UV Exposure unit for the first time.  :)  It is so much fun to have new toys.  I can't wait.  I have had four screens ready to go for a week  now.  I was going to print last weekend but I decided to wait until I got the new equipment.

Now I need to make sure the exposure unit is set-up properly.  Not really much to do there.  I just need to clean the glass and cut the foam to fit my screens.  I already checked to settings on the unit and it all looks good.  I wish I had an electric bread knife to cut the foam.  They work great for cutting foam in a straight line.

Lots to do....later.
