NATURAL BLEND EFFECT
In this video, I used my 4-color, 1-station press, 110 mesh wood screens and my flash dryer. All of this equipment can be found at silkscreeningsupplies.com. I also used RyOpaque Royal Blue, Lemon Yellow and Flag Red inks. The cool thing about a blend effect is that you can turn a one or two color image into a multi-color image without having to use a bunch of screens.
If you are new to screen printing, this is how it works. If you have a four color image, then you will need four separate screens...one for each color. My particular press is a 4-color press which means I can do four colors max...one color for each screen. My original design was a two color design....red letters with a black outline. I wanted to make it multi-color without having to use more screens, so I went with the natural blend effect. It turned out very nice.
I printed this design on five different color tank tops. The three colors I chose for the blend looked good on all the shirts. When I printed the black tank top, I just changed the outline from black ink to red ink. It is the same design but all the shirts look a little different because each time you pull the squeegee, the ink mixes a little differently. Again, I think that is a good selling point. They are each one-of-a-kind shirts.
As you can see, they turned out pretty cool. I can't wait to try it again. Let me know what you think.
