I have all my new equipment now. My flash arrived Friday. It only took a few minutes to set it up. Boy, I cannot wait to use it. Before my flash, I was using a heat gun to cure the ink. Out of the five shirts I have actually printed, I scorched two of them with the heat gun and it took five minutes to finish one shirt. Not fun at all. The flash should cure the whole image in 45 seconds. Wow, 45 seconds compared to five minutes. Excellent! Now I can print more shirts with all the time I am saving, unless I happen to burn another shirt. You never know. :) Every day is a learning experience.
Now that I can print in color, I need to rework some of my designs. Wow! I have so much to learn. Sometimes it gets overwhelming. I know the most important thing in screen-printing is the design. If it looks bad on paper, it will not look much better on a t-shirt. I am new to computer graphics and art in general, so it is definitely a daily challenge to get my designs looking good. I use CorelDraw for all my graphics needs. It has been a lifesaver for me. The Trace function is awesome.
If you are interested in CorelDraw but do not know if it will work for you, I suggest downloading a 30-day free trial of CorelDraw X5 from the Corel website. If it works for you, check out www.priorsoftwareversions.com. They have CorelDraw X4 for around $150. (It retails for $400 or more) This is only a suggestion. My experience with this company was great but it may not be the same for everyone, so purchase at your own risk. :)
Time to work on some designs!
See you soon.
