I received an interesting email a few days ago. A friend of mine from work emailed me and wanted to know if I gave screen-printing lessons. She is interested in learning so she can print t-shirts for her husbands band as well as print shirts for her daughter-in-laws business. I thought it was a very interesting idea and could possibly turn into something.
Since I mostly want to print for myself I would not be worried about someone taking possible business from me so I wouldn't have a problem giving lessons. I am still very new to the whole screen-printing process and I definitely have lots more to learn but I am very capable and confident I could teach others about the process. I do enjoy teaching and this is definitely a fun subject to teach. Plus it would mean another avenue to generate money. :)
I talked to my friend at work a few days after her email and started to explain the process to her. She didn't realize there were so many components to it but she was definitely interested in learning more. I think most people do not realize all the steps involved in taking an idea and ending up with a finished product. I have co-works asking me if I can make them a shirt without realizing the time involved. Even a one color image takes hours of time to create. I think a video detailing the whole process is in the near future.
It is always good to keep your mind open to new ideas!
