I have not been able to finish my new screen printing room in the garage yet so I have spent my time working on designs and doing my favorite thing...research! I LOVE researching a subject, especially on the Internet. It is just amazing the amount of information available.
Since your design is the most important aspect of t-shirt printing, looking at different designs has been my research subject lately. Designing is still very new to me. I am getting better but I definitely have lots to learn. I think it is awesome how designers can make a one color print look so darn cool!
Today I spent some time looking at shirt designs at a local store. It helps spark my imagination when I can see how designs are laid out and how the ink feels on the shirt. I always have a tape measure in my purse! (You never know when you might need one.) I was able to measure the design size and how far from the collar those designs were printed. To be honest, my wardrobe does not consist of a lot of shirts with designs printed on them. (Yet!) So, doing this kind of hands on research helps me to visualize how I might want to print my shirts.
I also spent time buying a few more things I needed for the new printing room. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY!! I LOVE this store! I spent $4.50 and bought metal brackets to connect the walls, hinges for the door (.25 cents each) and metal wheels for a rolling table. Look them up in the phone book. They are awesome!
Tomorrow I get to finish the walls of the new shop! Yeah!!
