HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year to everyone!!  I hope you all had a wonderful and safe celebration last night.  May 2011 be filled with many blessings for you and your loved ones.

I wanted to start this year out by sharing some cool websites with you.  The first is VECTORMAGIC.COM.  I mentioned in an earlier post the importance of your artwork and the difference between raster and vector art.  Vector art is what you want to work with because it has clean lines.  If you try to screen-print something that has jagged edges, those edges will end up on your shirt.  You want your design to have clean, smooth lines.  I use CorelDraw PowerTrace to convert my drawings into vector.  Even after they are converted, I still need to clean up some of the edges and lines.  Vector Magic is a program that will convert your stuff to vector and give you very clean, smooth lines.  You can buy the program for $300 or you can pay $8 monthly and use it online.  If you do not know how to convert your art to vector, definitely check out VECTOR MAGIC.

Two other cool websites are ADVANCEDARTIST.COM and ADVANCEDTSHIRTS.COM  Both sites   offer CorelDraw training videos as wells as vector art DVDs, CorelDraw training DVDs and SIMPLE SEPS (a color separation program).  They also offer a CorelDraw plugin called  FASHION FACTORY.  (You can also purchase this program from silkscreeningsupplies.com)  This plugin lets you do some very cool effects to your graphics with just a click of a button.  It is very cool.  You definitely have to check them out.

Fashion Factory and a vector art DVD are on my purchase list this month.  I can not wait to buy them!

I hope you enjoy the websites.
Jeanette
