USING 13 X 18 Waterproof R-Film

Today I am working on two designs that will be printed on size 3X shirts.  Such a big shirt requires a big design so I get to use my 13 x 18 Waterproof R-Film for the first time.  The biggest film I have used so far has been 8.5 x 14.  Wow, the amount of room you have on 13 x 18 film is awesome.  I can't wait to do some more big designs.

The designs are not real complicated.  It is a couple funny sayings printed in one color.  It should be a piece of cake.  I made a mistake when I printed the first round of transparencies.  The designs are 15 inches by 8 inches but I forgot the largest squeegee I have right now is 15 inches.  Oops!!  You should try to  use a squeegee that is at least 1 inch larger then your design.  That would give you a 1/2 inch clearance on each side of the design.  It was not a big mistake on my part but it did require me to shrink my design to 14 inches and re-print the transparencies.  I wasted a lot of ink on the first transparencies.  New print cartridges for my Epson 1400 cost $150 so I need to be more careful before I hit the print button.

One thing I was worried about was the shirt platen.  I thought I would have to make a larger platen to fit the 3X shirts but the design and shirts fit on a standard 16 x 16 shirt platen.  I was not in the mood to make another platen so I am very glad it fits the 16 x 16 platen.  :)

Time to go expose screens!
