SUPPLIES

I ordered new supplies today.   I am making the switch from wood screens to aluminum screens so I ordered six new ones.  Four of screens are 156 mesh which is very exciting.  The 156 mesh offers a smoother texture which I really like.  Also, you can pick up more detail in an image when you use higher mesh count screens.  The most important thing for me is the feel of the design.  I love it when you can not even feel the ink.

I will be trying new screen wash.  At the moment I am using Screen Wash 147 which works just fine.  I wanted to test out different products to see if one works better then another so I ordered Citra Paste Biodegradable Screen Wash.  I will definitely let you know which one works better for me.

I also ordered tan, gray and brown ink.  I needed those colors for my dogs so now I will be able to see what my designs look like in color.  It's all very exciting. :)

I had a dilemma but think I have figured out a solution.  I have an order for 15 baseball shirts with a design on the front and player names on the back.  The front image is easy to do.  The problem was 15 different names which would mean 15 different screens.  Yikes!  If I had a heat press and plotter it would be SO easy to whip out the names but I don't have either of those things.   I had an idea of what to do but I wanted to get another opinion so I contacted my friend Ethan at MOYA tees.  His solution ended up being the same as mine.  Thanks Ethan.  :)  What I decided to do was expose 3 to 4 names on one screen.  That way I will only need 4 screens instead of 15.  I will just need to adjust the platen a little to line up the names.  It should work fine.

I will be using the new aluminum screens for the baseball shirt order. I am really looking forward to seeing the finished shirts.  I think they will look awesome.

Don't forget to become a fan on my FACEBOOK PAGE. I will be having some up coming contests so get that camera ready.  :)

  1. YAY! Can't wait to see the results!

Oh, and you're going to love Citra-Paste. I just remove the excess ink from the screen, take it to the washout area, pour on a little Citra-Paste and scrub it in, then rinse it off. Works like a charm and doesn't stink like 147. Another helpful tool I discovered is the plastic ink card. It's only $1.39 and really comes in handy for cleanup. If you don't already have one, consider adding it to your next order. =D
